Developing the Culling block, 2010

Upper pond

Tim Luttrell digging the head to form the upper pond.

Water overflow from the upper pond collects behind the pond head.

Water overflow from the upper pond (unseen at left) and the lower artesian spring at right flow across the paddock to the lower pond.

Lower pond

The lower pond head traps the water from the overflow of the upper pond and the lower artificial artesian spring.

Looking back towards the upper pond from the lower pond.

Farm drain

The farm drain along the kahikatea block was modified.

Water overflow from the farm drain filters through rushes and grass before collecting behind the head of the upper pond.

Artificial artesian springs

The upper artesian artificial spring was created from a 'Nexus' drain pipe bisecting the Culling block.

Water overflow from this pipe flows into the upper pond head.

Water from the lower artesian spring overflows across the paddock to the lower pond.
